Hop Earth is a free browser-based 3D driving game where real roads become the foundation for your next journey. Pick a location, descend onto the map, and begin exploring from the road.

Start With the Map

The map is where every Hop Earth journey begins. Instead of selecting from a collection of fictional racing tracks, you choose a real-world location and enter the surrounding road network.

The game builds its environment from OpenStreetMap road information and satellite elevation data. Terrain and roads are generated live, allowing you to drive through locations across the real world without downloading a traditional open-world map.

Pick the Place Before You Drive

Monte Carlo appears as the default location on the map, but you can choose another place directly from the map view.

A city street, coastal road, or mountain route can become the starting point for your session. The important step is selecting a road area where the terrain has enough time to load before you begin driving.

Land Before Calling the Car

Selecting a destination sends your character into the area by parachute from around 2,000 meters. The landing needs to finish before vehicle controls become useful.

If the character remains suspended at the spawn height and the environment does not approach, the problem is likely related to loading or the session itself. Reloading and joining again can be necessary in the game's current early-access state.

Hop Earth Controls for Driving

  • W / A / S / D: Drive or walk
  • Arrow Keys: Drive or walk
  • X: Hold to summon a vehicle
  • F: Enter or exit the vehicle
  • J: Use nitro and hop over broken geometry
  • Space: Handbrake/kickflip
  • H: Open the in-game help screen

When the keys appear unresponsive, click inside the game first. The page needs keyboard focus before movement input can reach the game.

Follow the Road Network

The main appeal of Hop Earth comes from driving through roads generated from real geographic information. No conventional buildings are filling the world; the focus stays on roads, intersections, tunnels, terrain, and vehicle movement. This makes the experience feel closer to exploring a playable map than following a fixed racing course.

Build a Shared Route

You can also use Create a race from the map view to define a route between two real locations. Place the green START marker, choose the red FINISH marker, and the game traces a route along the road network. The route information can include its distance, weather, road surface, elevation, and starting street. The finished route can be started, shared, or reset for another attempt.

Bring Other Players Into the World

Multiplayer sessions allow players to share the same world. The game displays an invite URL for the current session, making it possible to send the session to friends.

Chat and a scoreboard are also available during a session.

  • T: Chat
  • Tab: Scoreboard
  • N: Next music track
  • 1 / 2: Change weapons

Helicopters are also part of the game, giving players another way to move around the generated world.

What to Expect From the Current Version

  • Hop Earth is still an early-access project. The developers are working on additions such as night mode, improved road and terrain textures, and streetlights.
  • Racing and GPS navigation are also described as upcoming features, so the current experience is centered on free-roam exploration and the existing route-building tools.

Make the Road Your Destination

The fun of Hop Earth starts with a simple choice on the map: decide where you want to go. Once you land and get your vehicle onto the road, the surrounding real-world geography becomes your driving environment.

Pick a location, wait for the world to load, and begin your next road trip in Hop Earth.
